Middle School Matters!

Communities In Schools empowers students of all ages to stay in school and achieve in life. For the student transitioning from elementary school to middle school, this is an important time of change which can help them succeed in school. Five areas are especially important to the middle school student, and these are:

• Social and emotional changes

• Organizational and environmental factors

• Academics

• Developmental growth

• College and career readiness

There are a number of things families can do to make sure students are prepared for these changes. For instance, teaching the child to plan for each day and keep up with homework will motivate the child to be more accountable and self-reliant.
